Phoenix Premium 1080P HDMI DVD Player

I have recently bought this dvd for £35, and despite some reviews saying that is not that good, I have a completly different opinion.

This player can read everything I throw to him: DVDs (is region free), divx movies, xvid movies, mp3.

It supports an external drive, using a usb 2.0 connection. The only limitation is that the external drive must be formated as FAT or FAT32. It does not support NTFS.

It has 5.1 sound, as well an SPDIF output. I use the 5.1 output and is really great. There is also the SCART connector, the composite connector and, the one I use, the HDMI connector.

When you use the HDMI, you can upscale all the media that you are seeing on the dvd. I’ve been seeing Battlestar Galactica and X-Files upscaled to 1080p and the difference for the normal resolution is abysmal. It seems like I am there (this is special true on X-Files, which is a older show).

The remote works well, giving all the functions needed. The player is also very small, and it does not overheat, and also operates very silently.

Overall, it is a good product to buy. There are probably better options on the market, but for £35 this is a bargain.

Battlestar Galactica

I’ve just bought the first 3 seasons boxset of this great show, and started seeing the episodes again.

I almost forgot how good this show really is. The way it evolves, the way the story is unfold, is really breathtaking. It is probably one of the best shows around, and it is a shame that it will end next year.

However, can’t wait for the day that the second half of the fourth season starts, so we all can see the end of this great show.

X-Files – I want to believe

The second X-Files movie is due on the 25 July 2008, on a cinema close to you.

This is a much anticipated movie, on which Fox Mulder and Dana Scully will try to find the truth once again.

Friends movie on the way?

According to the Daily Mail, there may be a Friends movie on the works, after the sucess of Sex and the City (which I haven’t seen yet and don’t pretend to do).

However, I would gladly pay for see these six friends reunited on the big screen.

Since Courtney Cox and Jennifer Aniston have now production companies, timming could not be more perfect. Lets hope the movie sees daylight.
