Transformers 2 premier

Today (actually yesterday) was the premiere on the UK for Transformers 2. As a fan, I had to be present.

The movie was a typical Michael Bay movie: explosions, explosions, and let’s not forget explosions. You kind of get lost on the middle of so many Autobots and Decepticons, specially on the ones that one make a brief appearance.

At one point, I was thinking that for once, the Decepticons were going to win, but as usual, they retreat at the first difficulty. Nothing new here.

The movie was also a bit long. At one point, on the one before last battle, the battle just went on and on, for a final battle that lasted 5% of the time of the previous one.  I would have prefered to see a less longer battle in the middle of the second part, and a much bigger battle in the end between Optimus and Fallen.

We’ll have to wait and see what Transformers 3 will bring to the screen, but this movie made me interested in going back to the cartoons and review the whole series (maybe start with the beast wars).

So, go see the movie. All in all, it deserves a good 8 out of 10. Just don’t go after a whole day of work like I did. The movie is long, really long.

And my favorite quote, to Michaela: ‘You are hot, but not so big for brains.’ (or something along this lines). So true!

Star Trek XI

Star Trek XI Enterprise

Last Sunday I finally went to Odeon to see the new Star Trek movie. It does cut with the past (or the future?) of the series, and in the end left me with a mixture of feelings.

I’ve enjoyed the movie. There is a lot of action, the acting was good and the story was cool. But, at the same time, there are those things that you think “why haven’t they done this differently so it would be easier?”. Also, the events on this movie create a new universe, so what we have learned trought the characters of TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise gets lost in time.

All in all, is a movie that is worth seeing. Storywise, I dare to say it is the best Star Trek movie so far. But because it cuts completly with the know universe, other people might disagree (a part of me does).

Battlestar Galactica’s best quote

Go back far enough and some germ gets blamed for splitting in two!

Also, this was probably the best Sci-fi speech, by Cavil:

BBC’s Planet Earth

dscf1936I’ve bought this BBC series this week. Is a really cheap collection, only £12 for 5 DVD’s that cover the story of Earth: animal, plant, sea, mountains, everything.

Is a great show to watch during that raining afternoon, and we can learn a lot from it.

The images are also brilliant. It’s amazing how beautiful how world can be.

I’m still going trought the first DVD, but I’m sure the ride will be worth the time spent watching it.

Battlestar Galactica, Smallville and Supernatural returns

battlestar_galactica

This has been a nice week. Yesterday we had the return of Supernatural and Smallville.

The episodes were great, really up to the standards.

Battlestar will be up this evening, so by tomorrow morning I will be able to see the episode. It has been a long break, but is defenitly the show I was waiting the most.
